Poet and Tanka
Who are the poets
writing English-language tanka today? Where does the material for their poems
come from? What story can be told about how a particular poem was written? Did
it come easily, or did it come with difficulty? What is involved in writing a
good tanka?
Below are the first two installments of the regular "Poet and Tanka" feature,
taken from the TSA Newsletter, and continued in each issue of Ribbons: Tanka
Society of America Journal. In each installment, a member of the Tanka
Society of America is invited to tell us something about themselves and to offer
a commentary on the creative process and background associated with one of their
tanka. --Michael McClintock
